Inserting Specific Notes into Syteline

For various reasons, we need to add a note to a record without using the interface provided, and unlike most things within Infor  Syteline 8, you cannot do this with an ido query, or sql insert with out a lot of fussing. I obtained this code a while back, and forgot to add it here – but it is VERY useful. Firstly I ought pay credit to Ross Mealor the Systems Developer at Precision Castparts for pointing me to this one! By putting it in this blog, I only hope to make it accessible to more users!

The code is quite self explanatory, here’s a sample :-

declare
@ObjectName SYSNAME = ‘Item’
, @RowPointer RowPointerType = ‘3E70C080-2971-4F95-8D2C-12A199AADCBF’
, @NoteDesc LongDescType = ‘test message’
, @NoteText LongListType = ‘this is a test’
, @InternalFlag FlagIeType = ‘1’
, @Infobar Infobar

exec CreateSpecificNoteSp @ObjectName, @RowPointer, @NoteDesc, @NoteText, @InternalFlag, @Infobar output

If I wanted to insert a system note onto a customer order I would do the following :-

declare

@ObjectName SYSNAME = ‘CO’

, @RowPointer RowPointerType = (select rowpointer from co where co_num = ‘test000013’)

, @NoteDesc LongDescType = ‘test message’

, @NoteText LongListType = ‘this is a test’

, @InternalFlag FlagIeType = ‘1’

, @Infobar Infobar

exec CreateSpecificNoteSp @ObjectName, @RowPointer, @NoteDesc, @NoteText, @InternalFlag, @Infobar output

Which results in the following :-
